Ch-ch-changes… Blog moving!

New blog address!!

I’ve decided to switch my primary blog to Blogspot from WordPress. This was a long time coming decision, but I think it’s the right thing. I’ve noticed a few things different between the two sites, and what stands out most is the accessibility to the sites. WordPress has a fantastic network of readers and bloggers, but it isn’t as accessible to non-wordpress users. With Google’s integrated search system, Blogspot can offer a lot more visibility.

But I’ve also really loved using WordPress for the past couple of years. Now that I’m getting used to Blogspot, I’m noticing some of the enduser bits that are missing and some of the functionality that lacks behind what WordPress offers.

One other thing that has been very enticing during this decision is the opportunity to run ads on my blog. It’s something I’ve been wanting to do for a while, and AdSense through Google makes handling ads and choosing which ads are most appropriate for readers very easy.

So with all that, what’s going to happen to the WordPress site? Well, I’m going to keep it, because one thing Blogspot lacks in big is the ability to attack non-image files directly into posts, and that really grinds my gears because I like to provide easy to download PDF patterns and recipe cards when I make something. I’ll end up using this blog to host my files, as well as updating teaser posts about the newest stuff on the Blogspot site. That way, if you’re a follower and a friend, you’ll be able to still get updates when new posts go up. But I will be moving content from WordPress to the Blogspot site (I’ve already been working on that these past couple of days). All the posts will remain here, but I’ll remove the content and set it up over at Blogspot, with a happy little link in the post letting everyone know where to go for the good stuff 🙂

All these choices have been about deciding to be a more serious blogger. I spend a lot of my time working on content and information to put out there, and I’m so happy to do it. I wish all my fellow bloggers here at WordPress the absolute best, I’ll still be following all of you so I won’t miss any of your fantastic posts!

Live, long and prosper!
